Following another failed date, Allison seeks support from her best friend Luke and his new girlfriend Hannah. Allison and Hannah’s instant spark leads the trio to laughing and flirting that ultimately makes Allison question her beliefs about monogamy and her own agency in relationships. As she navigates the boundaries between platonic, romantic, and sexual attraction, Allison finds love where she least – or maybe most – expects it.
When I first had the idea for this film, I was thinking about meet-cutes in rom-coms. I wanted to explore rom-coms in a new way, and something we don’t see on screen very often is polyamorous relationships. What happens if a throuple comes out of a meet-cute?
I also was interested in a romance where the conflict didn't arise from the characters being unlikeable, but instead came out of personal block that they were setting.
This film tries to make sense of that complicated thing we call "love".
